Amy Vena
Amy Vena is an Alumna of St. Bonaventure University and the Rochester Institute of Technology. She received her M.F.A. from the Rochester Institute of Technology. In May 2011, she received The Purchase Prize Award from R.I.T.’s Wallace Library, adding one of her pieces to the Institute’s permanent collection. Amy has exhibited artwork internationally; in 2013, she presented her artworks at ARTexchange (C.a.a. Conference) in New York City. In 2014, she received the Arena Art Award from Rochester Contemporary Art Centers Member's Exhibition in Rochester, N.Y.
Ms. Vena has taught multiple workshops, sponsored by ColArts Inc. the parent company of Liquitex Acrylics. Amy is highly knowledgeable in oil painting, acrylics, gel mediums and epoxy resin. Since graduation, she has returned to R.I.T. annually to lecture and has also lectured at St. John Fisher College.
Occupationally, Ms Vena has a passion for collections, exhibition curation and project management. She is a consultant for Bausch + Lomb working with the Corporate Archive and Art Collection. In 2014, Ms. Vena became the Director of Artist Relations for the 2015 Arts a the Gardens outdoor exhibition show and sale, held on the grounds of Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion State Historic Park.
In 2015, Amy began curating exhibitions for Nu Movement Co-Op. Nu Movement is an Artisan Cooperative by definition, where all artists and teachers share an active role in supporting and sharing their art forms through classes, happenings and curating local artists. Nu Movement provides a holistic approach to wellness, inspiring and nurturing the mind, body and soul.
Amy is passionate about art, family, community, health and wellness. She is very excited to work on this project with Liza Savage-Katz, collaborating with the fitness and art communities to raise charitable givings.
