I am inspired by life whether it be in the past or present, yours or mine. I believe that all interactions can be used as the fuel for creative development. Historical cultural events such as the Harlem Renaissance, the Civil Rights Movement, and Negro League baseball have influenced my character, the way I choose to represent myself, and has made me proud to be who I am. Growing up my parents worked for Kodak and my dad used to bring home film all of the time. We spent these moments together exploring and learning. Little to my knowledge this was the beginning of my admiration and desire for photography. As a teenager, I researched African-American photographers and was drawn to photographers such as Teenie Harris, Moneta J Sleet, and Gordon Parks. Presently I am inspired by my friends, family, and the notion of being the best I can possibly be at my craft. I'm very excited to see what the future holds with the ever-changing advancements in photography and technology. A visual evolution is vital, and I want to be on the cutting edge of that!
